ISL: Cleiton Silva departs Bengaluru FC; Chennaiyin FC rope in Jiteshwor Singh; Seriton Fernandes extends FC Goa contract

 

Bengaluru FC forward Cleiton Silva has parted ways with the club, the team announced on their social media account on Monday. The Brazilian striker has departed the club after spending two successful seasons with the team. The 35-year-old played 37 matches for Bengaluru and scored a total of 16 goals and provided seven assists in two seasons.

Silva’s tally of 16 goals is the third-highest for Bengaluru FC since the start of the tournament.

On the other hand, Chennaiyin FC has signed the services of Manipuri midfielder Yumkhaibam Jiteshwor Singh on a multi-year deal before the start of the next season of the Hero ISL 2022-23.

Singh will be joining hands with Marina Machans after impressing with his skills while playing for Neroca FC in the I-league. He was awarded the Best Emerging player of the season and had hogged the limelight with his impressive play.

“We are excited to see Jiteshwor in Chennaiyin FC colours especially after being awarded the Best Emerging Player of the Season in I-League last year. This is a real positive signing for us and our vision this season,” Chennaiyin FC co-owner Vita Dani said.

The youngster has played 40 professional matches in his young career in which he has provided two assists.

Meanwhile, Seriton Fernandes has extended his contract with FC Goa by two years. Fernandes has all the experience of playing in the Hero ISL as he has made 95 appearances in the tournament. The 29-year-old right-back added the Gaurs have played a huge role in his development as a player.

“I made my ISL debut with the club nearly five years ago, and I realize that I’ve grown a lot as a footballer since then. FC Goa has played a huge role in my development, and I will happily continue to repay the team with complete love and commitment,” quoted Fernandes after putting pen to paper on his new contract.

“As one of FC Goa’s senior players, I also understand that I’m at a position where I have to look after not just myself, but also the rest of my team. And there’s a lot that I can and have to do,” the 29-year-old added.
