ISL improving every year, expecting very good football: Kerala Blasters FC’s Milos Drincic

Kerala Blasters FC’s new recruit Milos Drincic feels the Hero Indian Super League is improving every year and he is expecting the level to be high in the upcoming edition, which will kick off on 21st September. The 24-year-old youngster has the experience of playing around 230 matches in the top-tier clubs of Montenegro and Belarus and thus he will bring a lot to the table for the Yellow Army.

Drincic kicked off his professional career in Montenegro with FK Iskra Danilovgrad in 2016. The center-back recently played for Shakhter Soligorsk in Belarus in the previous season.

After consistent performances, the youngster moved to Sutjeska Niksic in 2021 and won his first major trophy in the same season. Drincic also won the Championship with the club in the next edition.

He has played in tournaments like UEFA Champions League & Europa Qualifiers and was part of Montenegro’s U17, U19, and U23 teams. Drincic has received a warm welcome from the support staff and his teammates.

“I can’t describe it (in words) because it’s really a warm welcome here. For the first time when Kerala Blasters FC posted my picture on social media, (I received) a lot of warm welcome messages, I’m really thankful (for that) and I can’t wait to start performing in front of them,” Drincic said in an interaction with the KBFC media.

Drincic admitted he didn’t know much about Indian football but came to know that the ISL is improving with each season.

“I didn’t know much about Indian football, but as I searched on the internet, I see that there are many very good players, both Indian players and very good foreign players coming here. So, every year, the league is getting better, and I am expecting to see very good football. I anticipate a tough competition (in the league),” he opined.

Drincic also shed light on his meeting with head coach Ivan Vukomanovic, who has done a fine job for the Tuskers in the last couple of seasons.

“The coach is a great person. I didn’t know him before, but now that I’ve met him and spoken with him, he has really helped me, you know, to communicate with the directors. One more thing, the coach speaks my language, so it’s much easier for me, and I’m really happy that I can work with him,” said Drincic.

Kerala Blasters FC will begin their ISL 2023-24 campaign against Bengaluru FC at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Kochi on 21st September.
