Odisha FC has extended head coach Sergio Lobera’s contract till 2026. The club has added an extra year to Lobera’s two-year deal, which will keep him at the club till 2026. Under the Spaniard’s tutelage, the Kalinga Warriors has played 38 matches so far, securing victories in 21, drawing seven, while suffering 10 losses.
The club finished in fourth place in the ISL 2023-24 standings, which is their best finish thus far in the history of the Indian Super League. Furthermore, Odisha FC remained unbeaten while playing at their home venue of Kalinga Stadium throughout the previous season.
Under Lobera, Odisha FC maintained an unbeaten streak across 15 games in various tournaments. Thus, he has played an instrumental role in helping the club turn the tides in the ISL.
Sergio Lobera’s comments on his extension with the club: “I am delighted to be at this club. I am very excited to be part of this long-term project. I want to thank the club for their trust in me and I hope we can achieve success together and enjoy the journey.”
Club President, Raj Athwal also had his say: “His leadership and playing style have been transformative. We are confident that under Coach Lobera’s continued guidance, Odisha FC will achieve even greater success in the coming seasons. We look forward to working closely with him to build a strong team that consistently challenges for trophies and continues to make Odisha proud on the national and continental stage again.”
There is no doubt that Odisha FC has grown by leaps and bounds under Sergio Lobera. The gaffer will look to keep up the good show and keep getting the best out of his players in the next two seasons in charge.
