NorthEast United FC striker Huidrom Thoi Singh wants to win something for the club in the upcoming season. Singh played five matches for the Highlanders in the 2023-24 season of the Indian Super League but failed to find the back of the net.
The Highlanders finished the Indian Super League 2023-24 season in seventh place in the standings with six wins in 22 games and thus could not seal their playoff place.
The club was able to turn the tables in the recently concluded season after finishing as the cellar dwellers in the 2022-23 edition.
Meanwhile, Thoi Singh reflected on his football journey and how he fell in love with the game at a young age while talking to the club’s media.
“I started playing football in my hometown with my friends, and then I began participating in local football tournaments,” Singh told NorthEast United FC media.
“In 2015, I was selected for the Reliance Foundation program, where I played for five years. After that, I joined Bengaluru FC and played there for almost three years. I learned about the offer from Bengaluru FC through (Naushad) Moosa Sir. Initially, I joined the reserves team but in my first season I was training with the first team. Later after one year, I got promoted to the senior team,” he added.
The 20-year-old was also part of the Bengaluru FC squad for three years but didn’t get many opportunities. Singh revealed he moved to NorthEast United FC as he wanted to grow as a player by getting more game time.
“I left Bengaluru FC because I wanted to grow as a young player here at NorthEast United FC. That’s why I came here. I knew I would get more playing time here than at Bengaluru FC. It was a decision I made,” Singh revealed.
Speaking about his first season with the Highlanders, he said, “Yeah, it has been good, and I am very happy with the coach for giving me the opportunity to play. It has been a great experience.”
Singh will look to grab his opportunities in the next season for NorthEast United FC.
