Jamshedpur FC Clinches 2-1 Victory Over Hyderabad FC in ISL Thriller

Jamshedpur FC secured a hard-fought 2-1 win over Hyderabad FC in the Indian Super League (ISL) 2024-25 at the JRD Tata Sports Complex on Monday. The victory propelled Jamshedpur to second place in the league standings, a significant boost in their campaign.

Rei Tachikawa and Jordan Murray were the heroes for Jamshedpur, with Cy Goddard scoring the lone goal for Hyderabad FC. The match started cautiously, with both sides taking their time to analyze each other’s strategies. The first real threat came in the ninth minute when Jamshedpur’s Imran Khan sent in a dangerous cross intended for Mohammed Sanan, who narrowly missed the chance to connect.

Hyderabad responded swiftly with Chunga Hmar threading a pass to Goddard, whose deflected cross found Lenny Rodrigues. However, Rodrigues’ shot was comfortably saved by Jamshedpur goalkeeper Albino Gomes.

The deadlock was broken in the 29th minute when Jamshedpur’s persistent pressure paid off. Sanan’s cross from the left found Imran Khan, whose initial shot hit the post. However, Tachikawa was in the right place to slot the ball home, giving the Men of Steel a deserved lead. The Japanese midfielder nearly doubled his tally five minutes later, but Hyderabad’s goalkeeper Arshdeep Singh made a crucial save to keep his team in the game.

Hyderabad fought back, with Chunga Hmar’s curling shot in the 41st minute forcing an acrobatic save from Gomes. But just as the visitors were gaining momentum, Jamshedpur extended their lead. In the 44th minute, Sanan delivered a precise through ball to Murray, who expertly chipped the ball over the advancing Singh, making it 2-0 before halftime.

Hyderabad came out strongly in the second half, and their efforts paid off in the 50th minute. Leander D’Cunha’s long throw into the Jamshedpur box was flicked on by Allan de Souza, causing confusion in the defense. Goddard capitalized on the defensive lapse, tapping the ball into the net to reduce the deficit to 2-1.

Both teams made tactical substitutions in search of further goals, but the match remained tight. Despite Hyderabad’s late pressure, Jamshedpur held firm, ensuring their second win of the season.

With this victory, Jamshedpur FC now sits comfortably in second place, while Hyderabad continues to search for consistency.
