Jamshedpur FC Dominate Mumbai City FC with a 3-0 Victory in ISL Clash

Jamshedpur FC delivered a clinical performance to defeat Mumbai City FC 3-0 at the Mumbai Football Arena (MFA) on Sunday in an Indian Super League (ISL) 2024-25 encounter. The Red Miners not only secured their ninth win of the season but also completed a league double over the Islanders for the second time, their last coming in the 2018-19 season.

The victory propelled Jamshedpur to third place in the points table, with 27 points from 14 games. The Islanders, meanwhile, suffered their third loss in six home games, despite enjoying spells of attacking dominance.

The game began with Mumbai City FC’s Thaer Krouma attempting to break the deadlock early, but his eighth-minute shot from a scrambled corner situation sailed over the bar. Jamshedpur responded in the 21st minute with Imran Khan’s brilliant solo run and cross for Jordan Murray, though the effort was ruled offside.

Mumbai’s Lallianzuala Chhangte brought energy into the second half, launching a powerful shot in the 48th minute after a solo run down the left flank, but his effort hit the roof of the net.

Jamshedpur eventually took control in the 64th minute when Mohammed Sanan produced a moment of magic. Imran Khan’s precise cross from the right flank found Sanan, who expertly timed his run and unleashed a shot into the top-left corner, leaving Mumbai’s defense flat-footed.

Nine minutes later, Jamshedpur missed an opportunity to double their lead as Stephen Eze’s header went wide following a set-piece delivery from Javi Hernandez. However, the Red Miners were relentless in their pursuit of a second goal.

In the 86th minute, Mumbai City FC pushed for an equalizer with Nikolaos Karelis forcing a save from Jamshedpur goalkeeper Albino Gomes. The visitors capitalized on the counter-attack as Seiminlen Doungel launched a long ball to Murray, who lobbed Mumbai’s advancing goalkeeper TP Rehenesh to secure a 2-0 lead.

Jamshedpur sealed the win in added time when Hernandez capitalized on a deflected ball inside the box, firing a precise shot into the bottom-right corner to complete the 3-0 rout.

Speaking after the match, Jamshedpur head coach Khalid Jamil praised his team’s effort: “The boys executed the game plan perfectly. It’s a big win for us, especially against a strong team like Mumbai City FC.”

The Red Miners’ clinical efficiency—converting all three shots on target into goals—was the hallmark of the match, leaving Mumbai frustrated and strengthening Jamshedpur’s push for a top-two finish in the league.
