Jamshedpur FC have confirmed the contract extension of Serbian defender Lazar Cirkovic, keeping him at the club for the 2025–26 season. The experienced centre-back was instrumental in Jamshedpur’s strong campaign last year, helping the team reach the Indian Super League (ISL) semifinals and the Super Cup final.
Cirkovic, who joined Jamshedpur FC ahead of the 2024–25 season, brought both stability and leadership to the backline. His performances earned widespread praise from fans and the coaching staff alike, and his return is expected to significantly bolster the squad for the upcoming challenges.
“It feels great to continue my journey with Jamshedpur FC,” said Cirkovic after signing his extension. “The support from the fans and the trust from the club mean a lot to me. Last season gave me a lot of confidence, and I want to build on that to help the team achieve even more success. We have a strong squad, and I am excited to give my best and fight for trophies with the Men of Steel.”
The 33-year-old defender’s influence on and off the pitch has not gone unnoticed. Head coach Steven Dias praised Cirkovic for his consistency and impact during crucial moments in the previous season.
“Lazar was one of our most reliable players last season, and his leadership and composure on the field gave us great confidence as a team,” Dias said. “Having him with us again will be a big boost, especially with the intensity of the Super Cup. His experience will help our younger players and bring stability to the squad.”
Before arriving at Jamshedpur, Cirkovic featured in the ISL with Chennaiyin FC, making 19 appearances. His illustrious career also includes winning the Serbian First Division and the Serbian Cup twice with FK Partizan Belgrade, including a domestic double in the 2016–17 season.
Cirkovic also brings valuable European experience, having played in UEFA Europa League and Champions League qualifiers, and has represented Serbia at various youth international levels.
With Cirkovic’s extension now secured, Jamshedpur FC signal their intent to build on the successes of last season. His presence will not only anchor the defence but also provide mentorship to emerging talents in the squad, as the club eyes silverware in both the ISL and domestic cup competitions.
