Jamshedpur FC reinforced its midfield stability and local connection on Sunday by announcing contract extensions for two key players — veteran midfielder Pronay Halder and rising local talent Samir Murmu. The move signals the club’s intent to build a solid core as it prepares for the upcoming Indian Super League (ISL) seasons.
Pronay Halder, an experienced campaigner and Tata Football Academy graduate, has signed a two-year extension that will keep him with the Men of Steel until the end of the 2026–27 campaign. This marks his second renewal with the club, following a one-year extension signed last year.
Halder has been an influential figure in Jamshedpur’s midfield since first joining during their ISL Shield-winning season. After recovering from injury last year, he played a pivotal role in guiding the team to the semifinals, earning praise for his leadership and composure.
Sharing his excitement about continuing with Jamshedpur, Pronay said, “I am very happy to continue with Jamshedpur FC. This club has given me a lot of confidence and responsibility, and I feel at home here. We have built a strong core under the new setup, and my focus now is to help the team fight for trophies and make the fans proud. The support from the people of Jamshedpur has always been special to me.”
Alongside Halder’s extension, Jamshedpur FC also confirmed that 24-year-old midfielder Samir Murmu has committed his future to the club. Hailing from Bhagaband village near Ghatsila in Jharkhand’s Kolhan region, Murmu impressed in his debut ISL season and earned his renewal following an outstanding run in the 2023–24 Santosh Trophy.
Murmu, who was named Player of the Tournament after scoring 10 goals in 13 matches for Jharkhand, has quickly become a fan favorite and a symbol of local pride. His energy and attacking intent have added a new dimension to Jamshedpur’s midfield.
“Playing for Jamshedpur FC is a dream I’m living every day,” Murmu said. “This club represents my home, and I feel proud every time I wear the jersey. My aim is to work harder, improve with every training session, and make the people of Jharkhand proud. The fans here are passionate, and I want to give them more moments to celebrate.”
With both extensions confirmed, Jamshedpur FC appears focused on continuity and developing a mix of experience and homegrown talent as it eyes a strong challenge in the coming ISL campaigns.
