Few figures in football have cultivated a larger personality than Jose Mourinho.
From touchline theatrics to trophy celebrations, the man known as “The Special One” has always done things his own way. That independent streak extends beyond football as well. Over the years, Mourinho has assembled an enviable collection of luxury vehicles that reflects both his success and his passion for automobiles.
But now that he has returned to Real Madrid, he has discovered that not everything is under his control.
Before even settling fully into his new role, Mourinho has been confronted with a club policy that affects one of his favorite luxuries: his cars. Thanks to an exclusive commercial partnership between Real Madrid and BMW, players and coaching staff are prohibited from arriving at official club facilities in vehicles from competing manufacturers.
For most managers, that rule might not mean much.
For Mourinho, it is a very different story.
Real Madrid’s relationship with BMW extends far beyond advertising boards and promotional events. It directly impacts the daily lives of everyone connected to the first team.
Under the agreement, staff members and players are expected to use BMW vehicles when arriving at locations such as the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium and the club’s training complex.
The policy applies equally to superstars, academy graduates, and managers.
That means Mourinho will be expected to comply with the same rules as players such as Jude Bellingham and Kylian Mbappe, both of whom drive BMW models supplied through the partnership.
The arrangement is not unique in football, but few clubs enforce it as comprehensively as Real Madrid.
Recent arrivals have discovered the same reality. Players who previously drove other premium brands quickly learned that personal preferences take a back seat when club sponsorship obligations are involved.
Throughout his managerial career, Mourinho has accumulated an impressive garage filled with high-end vehicles.
The collection reflects decades spent coaching some of Europe’s biggest clubs and earning contracts that placed him among the highest-paid managers in world football. Estimates suggest Mourinho has earned well over $150 million USD throughout his coaching career, allowing him to indulge his passion for luxury motoring.
Among the standout vehicles reportedly linked to him are a Bentley valued at approximately $270,000 USD and a Jaguar F-Pace worth around $90,000 USD.
However, the jewel of the collection is believed to be a Ferrari 612 Scaglietti.
The Italian grand tourer reportedly entered Mourinho’s possession during his first spell at Chelsea and has become one of the most recognizable vehicles associated with him. Depending on condition and collector demand, examples of the model can command prices exceeding $330,000 USD in today’s market.
