Indian Super League side Kerala Blasters have secured the services of Ghanaian striker Kwame Peprah, the club announced on Sunday.
The Blasters needed someone to lead the lines and now Peprah will do that job for them in the upcoming season. He is only 22-year-old and will be looking to prove a point. Peprah has plied his trade in countries like Ghana and South Africa. He has featured for Orlando Pirates in the past and has the quality to be among the best strikers in the ISL.
The youngster attracted eyeballs towards him when he performed consistently for the Ghanain outfit King Faisal. He scored twice in 13 matches in his debut season but then in his breakthrough season, he returned with 12 goals and finished as the league’s second-highest top scorer.
The forward moved to Orlando Pirates in 2021 and was up and running from the first season. He scored seven goals in his debut season for the Pirates in the DStv Premiership and was also shortlisted for the Young Player of the Year award.
Peprah has also featured for Maritzburg FC on loan in the DStv Premiership and Israeli outfit Hapoel Hadera before he made the move to India. He has signed a two-year deal keeping him at the club till 2025.
Kerala Blasters’ Sporting Director was very impressed with Peprah’s physicality and feels that he is an overall package and will cause trouble for the opposition defenders. “Kwame is an important addition to our squad. His physical attributes and footballing skills make him a big asset for our team. A young, versatile, & fast-footed striker, I believe Kwame will pose a constant threat to the Hero ISL defences and help our team fight for the highest targets.”
Lastly, the 22-year-old Ghanaian striker also was very happy for the opportunity to feature in Indian football. “Many thanks to the Club for providing me with this opportunity. I am really happy to join this amazing Club and to have the opportunity to play in India. I look forward to joining my teammates very soon and to kick-start the next season!”
