Kerala Blasters head coach Ivan Vukomanovic blames poor decision making from his players for the 3-0 loss against Jamshedpur FC

 

Kerala Blasters faced a 3-0 defeat against Jamshedpur FC in their latest Indian Super League clash. Greg Stewart scored a brilliant brace while Daniel Chima Chukwu added the other goal to help the Men of Steel climb up to the second spot, only behind Hyderabad FC.

Kerala Blasters made two horrible errors as they gave away two crucial penalties to allow Jamshedpur FC to take the initiative. Greg Stewart made no mistake in dispatching both the spot-kicks away and handed Owen Coyle’s men with a comfortable lead. Later Chima also joined the party scoring the third goal.

When quizzed whether the penalties were the turning point in the match, Ivan Vukomanovic immediately agreed. He said, “Yes, of course. Because in these moments, we must admit that it was a poor decision of our players. We can speak about lack of concentration, but these are the decision-making moments where the players have to make those decisions. But anyway, it’s one second in the game and it happens.”

It was a tough outing for Denechandra Meetei as the 27-year-old was at fault for two of the three goals conceded by the Yellow Army. However, Vukomanovic highlighted how jumping into these types of matches can be intimidating for any player.

“If we speak about the first mistake, he’s a great person, a great player. It was his first game of the season. We have to give also some credit. He needs time to jump in these kinds of games, which can be very intimidating against very good opponents. So, a lack of concentration at that moment, as a player you face those moments and you’ve to be ready to play these kinds of games to improve,” the tactician opined.

Apart from the defeat, Kerala Blasters also had to sub out young defender Ruivah Hormipan after his collision with Prabhsukhan Singh Gill. It was a head clash and the defender was rushed to hospital, Vukomanovic added that the injury looks very serious.

“It doesn’t look good. It makes me very sad about the things that I heard. He was transported to the hospital. We have to see later what is the situation. If it’s the worst-case scenario, we will probably miss him till the end of the season.,” Vukomanovic concluded.
