Jamshedpur FC head coach Khalid Jamil expressed his delight after a 2-1 win against Punjab FC at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, New Delhi in the ongoing Indian Super League 2024-25 on Tuesday. Pratik Chaudhari scored the opening goal for the visitors in the 41st minute to put them in front.
After the first-half, Javi Hernandez doubled the team’s lead to give a 2-0 advantage to his team in the 48th minute. Ezequiel Vidal scored for the Shers after 10 minutes but the hosts could not find the equalizer.
The Red Miners had 46.1% possession and had only three shots on target but more importantly they were able to convert two of them.
“We have got three wins from away games, that’s the most important thing. We have to rectify some small mistakes. We will see,” Jamil said in the post-match press conference.
Meanwhile, Jamil backed forward Javier Siverio, who hasn’t scored for the team in the last seven games. The Spaniard has scored a total of four goals in the ongoing season.
Speaking about the forward, Jamil said: “He (Siverio) is a good player. We need him very badly. Every time he does a good job. He is a scorer and he is a team man. He plays a major role.”
On the other hand, Jamil also hailed Lazar Cirkovic, who has impressed in the midfield in his debut season in the ISL.
“Lazar (Cirkovic) is a good player. He can dictate, he can play in midfield. He can play slow, sometimes fast (and direct) with long balls. He is very important. He is an experienced man. He can play centre-back. He motivates the players very well and he knows how to handle situations really well,” the Jamshedpur FC head coach stated.
Jamshedpur FC will next play against second-placed FC Goa at the JRD Tata Sports Complex on Sunday.
