Manchester United’s Leny Yoro has revealed that the club players wanted Casemiro to stay with the team. Casemiro will leave Manchester United when his contract expires at the end of the season, the club had earlier confirmed.
The Brazilian midfielder arrived from Real Madrid in 2022. He will part ways with the club on a free transfer after United decided against triggering a one-year option in his contract.
Meanwhile, United fans chanted “one more year” at the Brazilian after he scored in the 3-1 win over Aston Villa on Sunday.
“Everyone wanted him to stay, he’s a player [who is] really important for us,” Yoro said.
“Even in the dressing room, every day, he has the experience that no one else has in the team.
“He won everything, so this helped us a lot in the games and even outside the pitch.”
On the other hand, team’s head coach Michael Carrick showered praise on the Brazilian for his positive impact on the club.
“I think it’s when something’s decided and in some ways the fact that it was decided makes things a little bit easier and everyone understands the situation really,” Carrick said.
“I think the impact he’s had has been terrific, certainly since I’ve been here and working with him and his influence within the team and big moments and goals.”
The midfielder moved to Red Devils following his £60 million ($81m) move from the Los Blancos.
Casemiro has received interest from Saudi Arabia in the past, but wants to play in Europe in the next season. The Brazilian has all the experience under his belt and he would look to deliver his best.
Manchester United will next play Bournemouth on Friday at the Vitality Stadium.
