Man United’s Ruben Amorim rules out Jan transfers amid form slump

Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim has ruled out any possibility of adding any more players in the January transfer window amid their form slump. United suffered a 2-0 loss against Newcastle United at Old Trafford in their last game of the year, which has pushed them to 14th place in the Premier League standings.

The Red Devils are only seven points ahead of the relegation places and thus the pressure is on the team for their mundane form. United is lacking players that the fit the bill for Amorim’s 3-4-3 system.

“We don’t have that possibility in January,” Amorim said. “You know the situation better than I [do]. It’s not the case I am not arriving here and I can spend a lot of money, changing all the team. You know the situation so it’s not a point to talk about it.”

The Old Trafford-based club will have their work cut out against table leaders Liverpool in their next match and the Portuguese said he will stick with his 3-4-3 structure.

“I have to sell my idea.” he said. “If I change all the time it is going to be even worse. But I understand they have a lot of difficulties because they spent two years playing one way. You can feel it, I can feel it but I have to sell my idea, I don’t have another one.”

Amorim added he will stick with his plans and he will look to get the best out of his players in the upcoming matches to help his team turn the tables.

“When you have a change of coach, especially in this type of club, it is because they were not winning,” Amorim added.

“They play in the system they were bought for and were losing. So I am going to change to that system? This team was already in problems.”

Manchester United will next take on table-leaders Liverpool at the Anfield on Sunday.
