Manchester United boss Erik Ten Hag has revealed the club wants to keep Bruno Fernandes. It was recently reported that Fernandes could leave the Red Devils.
The Portuguese is under contract with Manchester United until June 2026. Fernandes moved to Old Trafford in January 2020 from Sporting CP but since then has won only the Carabao Cup, which came in the last season.
Fernandes has scored 10 goals and assisted eight in 34 appearances for the United this season in the Premier League. He scored two goals and provided as many assists in the six matches of the Champions League.
It has been reported by ESPN that Cristiano Ronaldo’s team Al-Nassr is interested in signing Fernandes.
“The club wants to keep Bruno, there is no question I think,” said Ten Hag. “I have to see the interview. As far as I know and everything I know from him, he loves Manchester United.
“He loves the fans and he loves to play for Manchester United. So that is all I know. You see he always gives his best. He’s an example.”
Meanwhile, Fernandes said he wants the club to have him in the future.
“The club needs to want me,” Fernandes told Sky Sports. “I feel that the club wants me to be part of the future. As I always said, I don’t want to be a player the club doesn’t want to have.
“If for some reason the club doesn’t want me, I will go.”
Fernandes recently said he would take a call on Manchester United’s future after the FA Cup final against Manchester City and the Euros.
Amid reports claiming that Fernandes could leave Manchester United, he told Dazn Portugal: “I don’t have thoughts for other things at the moment. It doesn’t just depend on me.
“So, if you want me to be very honest, if I have to think about not continuing in the Premier League, it won’t be until after the Euros.
“We can end the season by winning the FA Cup, then we have the European Championship, which is very important for us.
“Nothing will take my focus away from this end of the championship, the FA Cup and the European Championship. There is nothing more important than that at the moment.”
Manchester United registered a thrilling 3-2 win against Newcastle United on Wednesday night. The Red Devils will play their last Premier League match of the season against Brighton on Sunday.
