FC Goa head coach Manolo Marquez criticized his players after they suffered a 1-3 loss against Jamshedpur FC at the JRD Tata Sports Complex, Jamshedpur in the ongoing Indian Super League on Sunday.
Marquez reckons his team didn’t turn up for the game in the first half and the players should look at the mistakes they made on the pitch. Lazar Cirkovic and Javier Siverio scored for the home team but Ayush Chhetri got one back at the stroke of half time.
But Siverio closed the match’s door on the Gaurs after he scored his second in the 68th minute.
“Fair win, Jamshedpur FC played much better than us. FC Goa didn’t appear on the ground today and that’s a simple summary. In the first half, they were 1000 times better than us. We arrived at the water break, (the scoreline) very lucky for us, because at that moment they missed very clear chances. We conceded two consecutive goals. We scored before half-time,” he said in the post-match press conference.
“In the second half, we entered (the game) more or less in the first minutes. But when they scored the third goal, the game was over. With our performance, we need to do self-criticism to check what happened in the game and keep going because in another four days, we have another game,” he added.
The Spaniard admitted that they were not at their best as they were in previous outings and said they should shift their focus to the next game.
“We need to play in the way that we were doing, at least, to be competitive like in the former games. I think for sure, it was our worst game of the season. At any moment, we did not know how to play against them. They were practically better than us in every aspect of the game. We need to comeback, keep our heads up, train again and try to beat Odisha FC,” he explained.
FC Goa will next take on Odisha FC at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Goa on Thursday.
