With the Indian Super League (ISL) 2024-25 season reaching its dramatic climax, Mohun Bagan Super Giant and Bengaluru FC are set for a mouthwatering final clash. For the Mariners, who are aiming to complete a historic ISL double, the return of a key figure could make all the difference—Manvir Singh.
After missing the playoff matches against Jamshedpur FC due to injury, the 29-year-old winger is expected to return to full fitness just in time for the finale. Despite limited appearances in the playoffs, Singh has had an impactful season, contributing five goals and four assists in 24 games. His resurgence could be pivotal for Mohun Bagan’s title hopes.
One of Singh’s key assignments will be challenging Bengaluru’s Naorem Roshan Singh on the right wing. Known for his speed and physicality, Manvir will look to overpower Roshan in wide areas. “Manvir is not only blessed with pace, but his physicality is a key factor that gives him the edge in duels in the wide areas,” read a note from ISL Media. His strength and smart movement could be crucial in breaking down Bengaluru’s typically resolute defense.
Beyond his physical attributes, Singh brings a creative spark to Mohun Bagan’s attack. Despite just four official assists this season, he has created 26 goal-scoring chances and is averaging more than one chance per game. His improved decision-making and final ball have added a new dimension to his game. “He will not only look to get past Roshan Singh and company with his darting forward runs but also ensure that the attacking moves are justified with a smooth final delivery,” noted ISL Media.
Singh’s unpredictability in front of goal adds another layer to his value. With much of Bengaluru FC’s defensive focus likely on Mohun Bagan’s prolific forwards—Jamie Maclaren and Jason Cummings—Manvir could exploit the spaces and arrive unmarked into the box. “Manvir can also turn up in the danger areas in the final third to pose an unpredictable goal threat for the Mariners,” stated ISL Media.
In set-piece situations and open play alike, Singh’s sharp instincts and clinical finishing could make the difference. As Mohun Bagan gear up for their biggest game of the season, all eyes will be on Manvir Singh to deliver a standout performance that could steer them to ISL glory.
