Mohammedan SC’s head coach Andrey Chernyshov believes it is imperative for the club to rope in experienced players after their 2-1 loss against table-toppers Bengaluru FC in the ongoing Indian Super League at the Kishore Bharati Krirangan, Kolkata on Wednesday.
The home team scored early to take the lead as Manzoki found the back of the net in the eighth minute. However, the Blues veteran Sunil Chhetri equalised for the visitors in the 82nd from a spot kick. Ogier then scored an own goal as the hosts could not even share a point despite leading for the first 80 minutes.
“We haven’t been conceding late goals in every game but it has happened in some games. It’s about concentration. They brought on good players in the second half and put a lot of pressure on us,” he said during the pre-match press conference.
“If you have to keep the point against Bengaluru FC in the final minutes, we need to play in a different way. But this will come with experience,” he added.
Meanwhile, Mohammedan SC has accumulated only five points in eight matches and they are struggling at the 12th place in the ISL standings.
“We will assess which players we want and which players are not of the level (we need),” he said.
“All teams will do the same. Even the team that wins the Champions League in Europe buys new players. It’s normal in football. For sure, we need players with experience to help the young players and we will try to do something in the January transfer window,” he concluded.
Mohammedan SC will next take on Jamshedpur FC at the JRD Tata Sports Complex, Jamshedpur on Monday.
