Late Karthik Kumar Strike Seals Dramatic Win in Injury Time
In a dramatic season opener, Mumbai Marines FC secured a 3-2 win over Shastri Nagar Off Shots FC, with a last-minute screamer by Karthik Kumar sealing the victory in injury time. The exciting match at Neville D’Souza Football Ground saw both teams fighting hard, but it was Mumbai Marines who came out on top.
Sahil Rathod gave Mumbai Marines FC the lead in the 37th minute, ensuring a 1-0 advantage at halftime. Shortly after the break, Miraj Solanki doubled the score in the 52nd minute, putting the Marines in control. However, Shastri Nagar responded with goals from Manav Bonulu and Rafique Mansoori, leveling the score at 2-2 and setting up a thrilling finish.
In the final minute of injury time, Karthik Kumar stepped up and delivered a spectacular goal, clinching the win for Mumbai Marines FC and sending the home crowd into jubilation.
Club Captain Shreyash More praised the team’s perseverance: “It was a hard-fought match, and I’m proud of how we stayed focused until the end. Karthik’s goal was the perfect example of our fighting spirit, and it’s a fantastic way to start the season.”

Mumbai Marines FC will next face Skorost on September 16, 2024 (Monday), at 3:00 PM at Neville D’Souza Football Ground. The team will be looking to build on this thrilling win as they continue their MFA Super League campaign.
