Napoli is keen on signing Manchester United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo as he continues to get frustrated at Old Trafford.
The English international has been Napoli’s target since last summer, but the Red Devils have refused to listen to an offer for him.
After being left on the bench for several games, Mainoo is reportedly growing frustrated with Manchester United’s refusal to sell or loan him.
This has also made his half-brother send a powerful message in shirt form.
The Partenopei have made no secret of their interest in the attacking midfielder as they aim to fill the gaps in midfield, especially after an injury crisis that struck with Kevin De Bruyne, Stanislav Lobotka, Billy Gilmour, and Andre Frank Zambo Anguissa on the treatment table.
As the winter transfer window approaches, the Scudetto holders will at least want to sign on an initial loan deal.
They had already approached last summer and are going to try again in January.
According to Sky Sports UK, Manchester United have no intention of sending him out on loan.
As the World Cup approaches, Manou would want to be part of the party, but Thomas Tuchel will only base his selection on form.
It is reported that the Red Devils are planning to set a very high price tag, even for other Premier League clubs. This is therefore expected to be entirely out of range for a Serie A side.
Based on the current development, the Partenopei may well have an ally in Mainoo himself, as his half-brother Jordan wore a shirt that read ‘Free Kobbie Mainoo’ during a game.
This means that Kobbie Mainoo was speaking through his brother. He could probably know about the t-shirt and endorse the message.
Ben Jacobs, who spoke on The United Stand podcast, also said the player “was speaking through his brother, he knew about the shirt and endorsed the message.”
So far, 20-year-old Mainoo has made only 12 competitive appearances this season for Manchester United, playing a total of 302 minutes of football.
From the look of things, United will only consider selling Kobbie Mainoo in January if they receive an exceptional offer, as they are hellbent on selling him and don’t want to send him on loan.
It is hoped that the situation will change ahead of the winter transfer as United need to sort out the future of a frustrated young footballer who wants to be at the heart of the action.
