Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain have finally completed the signing of Nordi Mukiele from RB Leipzig on Wednesday. This is a great statement for the Paris club that wanted to bolster their defence.
This makes it signing number four for Paris Saint-Germain this summer. The Paris club had, before the signing of the French defender, added Nuno Mendes, Vitinha, and Hugo Ekitike to their squad.
Now that Mukiele has arrived to reinforce the French champions through to 2027, it can be said that it is a return home. Apart from being a Frenchman, the defender began his career with the Paris FC academy.
From there, he joined Stade Lavallois before linking up with Montpellier Hérault SC, where he made his Ligue 1 at 19 years old and spent a season and a half with the side before leaving.
Mukiele had played 50 games in the elite before moving abroad to RB Leipzig in the summer of 2018. He is also a utility player who can play in the centre or right side of the defence.
Having been an important player for the German club, where he scored 10 goals and 11 assists in 146 games, PSG couldn’t take their eyes off him as they wanted him urgently.
Mukiele is also a France international. He played his first game with Les Bleus on September 7, 2021, against Finland.
Speaking after his medicals and photoshoot, the 24 years old couldn’t hide his joy when he signed for Paris and returned to his native city.
He pointed out that Paris is his hometown. This, he said, is a dream for him.”I grew up in the Paris region, so playing for Paris is a source of great pride for me, for my friends, and for my family. And I am very happy to have worked hard and to be able to be here today.”
Speaking on his move, he said he thought hard about it before deciding to join, noting that it’s a very big step in his career, adding that it’s not a choice to be taken lightly.
“But I think, and I’m sure, I made the right choice,” he added.
