Former Manchester United attacking midfielder Paul Pogba reckons the club is losing a great player in Marcus Rashford. Rashford is all set to join the La Liga giants, Barcelona, on loan with the option to make it permanent.
Rashford could not get regular chances with Manchester United under new head coach Ruben Amorim. The Portuguese called out Rashford for his lack of intent in the training sessions and the forward was loaned out to Aston Villa in the previous season.
Pogba has backed Rashford to find success at the Catalan club.
Pogba said in an interview with IShowSpeed, “That’s crazy. I’m happy for him because they took his number out. Manchester United, they’re losing a great player.
“Marcus Rashford, that will be great for Barcelona, to be honest. I’m not even talking about Manchester United because they’ve bought two players and the new manager wants to do his thing, I guess, so it’s not really his fault if he doesn’t believe in someone.
“He needs to win at the end, you know, if he doesn’t play well, he doesn’t win, they’re gonna sack him. But, like, I’m happy for Marcus.”
On the other hand, former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand wants Rashford to avoid dribbling a lot at Barcelona.
He said on his podcast, “It would be a mistake if he becomes one of those strikers who dribble a lot and make things difficult for himself. Keep his game simple: one-two, play to Lewandowski, run around the corner, etc. He’s got that intelligence. We’ve seen that if he simplifies his game in those three areas and adds work ethic off the ball. If he manages to do all these, this will be a steal for a season.”
Rashford is all set to undergo medicals before joining Barcelona.
