Legendary Paul Scholes has questioned Marcus Rashford’s attitude when he was with Manchester United in the previous season. Rashford could not get regular chances under the new head coach, Ruben Amorim, and was loaned out to Aston Villa.
After the season, Rashford could not find a place in the pre-season tour to the USA and was loaned out to Barcelona. The England International has done a decent job for the Catalan club after going goalless in the first four games. Rashford scored a brace in a 2-1 UEFA Champions League win against Newcastle United in Lamine Yamal’s absence.
Scholes, the former United midfielder, said as quoted by MUFC Scoop, “I really struggle to feel happy for him (Rashford). Mainly because of his attitude. His attitude towards Man Utd towards the end, I thought it was disgraceful. The amount of times I saw him at Man Utd, walking…”
On the other hand, Rashford said it has been an amazing experience while playing for Barcelona.
“Playing for Barca is an amazing experience. I’ve always been a huge admirer of Barcelona. We want to win as much as possible. 100% I’m full of excitement. I’m very motivated and determined. The quality we have in the team excites me. It’s so refreshing to play with these players.”
Rashford has scored two goals and provided one assist in six games for Barcelona thus far. The La Liga giants’ head coach, Hansi Flick, had showered praise on Rashford after he had scored two goals against Newcastle.
“I am not surprised [by his goals],” Flick said in the press conference. “I think he’s a fantastic player. His skills are unbelievable and his finishing is unbelievable.
“I think also in the first half, he tried to create chances, but the finishing wasn’t there. In the second half it was.
“For a striker, it’s always good to score. I am really happy. He is an important player. When we spoke before the season about what we needed in the team, we felt we needed a player like him.
“When we had this chance [to sign him], I said we have to do it. He’s an outstanding player.”
Barcelona will next take on Real Sociedad on Sunday.
