Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola revealed that Erling Haaland is feeling much better and he could return to action against Nottingham Forest on Wednesday. The Spaniard coach will take a call on Haaland’s fitness after training on Tuesday.
The Norwegian striker missed the game against Leeds United, which City won by 1-0 on Saturday because of an ankle injury. Haaland has been in superb form as he has scored 22 goals in 27 matches of the ongoing EPL season. The lanky striker has also provided seven assists.
“He feels much better,” Guardiola said when asked about Haaland’s fitness.
“Yesterday we didn’t train, and now we’re training. We’ll decide today [Tuesday].”
Guardiola revealed that the decision on Nico O’Reilly’s availability will also be taken after Tuesday training.
“The same; we’ll decide after training,” said Guardiola.
The Premier League title race is getting intense at the fag end of the season as City are only five points behind table-toppers Arsenal. Guardiola said City can not afford to drop any points with only 10 matches remaining.
“When you arrive at the last 10 games of the season, it starts to be decisive at every point,” Guardiola said.
“We have six games in this month, two in the Premier League before the international break, and it’s really important.
“We are five points behind Arsenal, so we cannot drop points.”
Manchester City and Arsenal will take on each other on April 18 and that contest is going to be imperative as far the title race is concerned.
City would look to come up with a complete performance against Forest on Wednesday.
