Rising star PV Vishnu has signed a two-year contract extension with Indian Super League (ISL) club East Bengal FC, keeping him with the Red & Gold Brigade until the end of the 2027-28 season. The extension is a strong statement of faith from the club, recognising the attacker’s rapid rise and pivotal role in recent campaigns.
Vishnu, who was East Bengal’s joint-leading scorer in the ISL 2024-25 season with four goals, has been a consistent performer since joining the club in mid-2023. The 23-year-old forward has already made 55 top-flight appearances, becoming a dependable presence on the flanks and a fan favourite at the Salt Lake Stadium.
East Bengal’s Head of Football, Thangboi Singto, lauded the youngster’s growth and professionalism: “Vishnu’s extension is a reward for his good performance in East Bengal colours. Consistency, perseverance, willingness to improve, professionalism and humility are the traits we want to inculcate in all our young players. We wish Vishnu all the best as we believe it’s just the start for him to reach his true potential.”
The Kerala-born forward’s numbers underline his contribution. In the ISL 2024-25 season, Vishnu registered 4 goals, 3 assists, 38 successful dribbles, and 115 successful duels across 22 matches, amassing 1,459 minutes on the pitch. His performance surge in December 2024 earned him the ISL Emerging Player of the Month award.
He also made his mark in other competitions. Vishnu has scored 11 goals for East Bengal in the Calcutta Football League over two seasons, and played a key role in helping the team reach the final of the Reliance Foundation Development League 2024. That campaign ended with East Bengal earning a spot in the prestigious Next Gen Cup in England.
East Bengal Head Coach Oscar Bruzon emphasised Vishnu’s growing stature within the squad: “PV Vishnu has become an important asset to the club, hence his extension was a top priority for us. He has limitless potential, fearless dribbling skills and match-winning impact. If he continues to work hard and develop at such a rapid pace, he can become one of the best wingers in the country.”
Speaking after signing his new deal, Vishnu expressed heartfelt gratitude: “East Bengal has nurtured my growth and continuously supported me to become a better player. I am grateful to the Emami East Bengal FC management and the passionate fans for always believing in me. This club has made me what I am today and I am determined to bring East Bengal as much success as possible.”
With his future now secured, PV Vishnu will look to build on his momentum and further cement his name among East Bengal’s brightest young talents.
