Kerala Blasters responded swiftly with a strong statement condemning the abuse. “The Club has taken note of an appalling incident… where one of our players was subjected to blatant racist chants,” the statement read. The club confirmed that it has formally raised the issue with the All India Football Federation and ISL authorities, vowing to pursue appropriate action.
“There is no place for racism in our game,” the statement added, reinforcing the club’s stance on maintaining respect and inclusivity in football.
Bengaluru FC also issued a firm response, condemning the incident and pledging cooperation with authorities to identify those responsible. “Racism is unacceptable… and runs completely counter to the values the club stands for,” the club said, signaling unity in addressing the issue despite the rivalry.
This is not the first time controversy has clouded fixtures between these two sides. In the 2023–24 season opener, Bengaluru FC forward Ryan Williams was accused of making a racist gesture towards Kerala Blasters defender Aibanbha Dohling, prompting an official complaint to the AIFF.
