Mohun Bagan Super Giant captain Subhasish Bose said it is special to win the League Shield and the Indian Super League Cup in the same season. Bose was able to lead from the front and played a key role in taking the Mariners to the double of League Shield and ISL Cup.
In the summit clash against Bengaluru FC on Saturday at Kolkata, Alberto Noguera scored an own goal in the 49th minute to put the Blues in front. However, Jason Cummings equalized for the home team from a spot kick in the 72nd minute.
MBSG striker Jamie Maclaren then scored the title-winning goal for Jose Molina’s team in the 96th minute.
Meanwhile, Bose scored six goals for Mohun Bagan Super Giant in 25 matches of the ISL 2024-25 season and also provided an assist. The club’s captain hailed the collective team effort of the whole team after leading them to glory.
“It’s not only me; the team gave their all, and that’s why we can win the trophy and win the Shield for consecutive times. I’m very proud of our performance and attitude. It’s very special for me to win as MBSG’s captain. It was my childhood dream to play for MBSG, and I feel proud to lead the team,” Bose said while talking to the official ISL website.
“Team bonding is key to our success. Coach managed the dressing room very well, and I also tried to keep a positive atmosphere in the dressing room. Each player’s contribution to the team and their attitude on the field and off the field help us achieve such success,” Bose continued.
“Winning the Shield and the Cup in the same season as a captain is very special and memorable for me,” Bose signed off.
Mohun Bagan Super Giant will next take on Churchill Brothers in the Round of 16 on 20th April in the Kalinga Super Cup.
