The Federation of International Hockey suspended all of its Pro League matches, which includes fixtures with India involved to the 17th of May due to the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak, which has caused over 9000 deaths across the globe.
Dated back to the 14th of March, FIH announced that it had postponed all its Pro League matches, which have been scheduled to hold on the 15th of April.
The FIH released a statement saying ” Following the latest development of the pandemic disease outbreak, and particularly the response was given by the vital public authorities around the globe, the FIH in collaboration and with the full support of all participating National Associations have reached an agreement to further extend the postponement period of the FIH Hockey Pro League till 17th of May”.
This decision made means all matches that are set to hold on the 17th of May will also be put on hold.
The FIH will continue to monitor all situations closely following the directive and regulations of the WHO [World Health Organization] and public authorities.
The Indian Men’s team has been scheduled to play against Germany in Berlin on the 25th and 26th of April before traveling to the U.K to face Great Britain in London on the 2nd and 3rd of May, respectively.
To add to the list of the schedule, India will welcome New Zealand on the 23rd and 24th of May before heading to Tucuman to face Argentina on the 5th and 6th of June.
However, New Zealand and Australia had already canceled plans to travel to Europe for their forthcoming games.
The world continued to battle the pandemic outbreak as sporting events remain suspended until further notice.
