Jasmine Jasudavicius Faces Tough Tests in 2025

Jasmine Jasudavicius has solidified her status as a standout talent in Canadian MMA, excelling in the UFC women’s flyweight division through skill, determination, and resilience. Ranked #12 as of January 9, her career has been marked by record-breaking performances and unforgettable moments.

Born in 1989 in St. Catharines, Ontario, to John and Rita Lianga, Jasudavicius grew up as the middle child among three siblings. Though she had a strong athletic foundation from her school years, her journey into combat sports began unexpectedly in 2016 when she met Chris Pickett, sparking her interest in MMA.

Jasudavicius debuted in amateur MMA in 2017, where her natural athleticism and drive quickly earned her an undefeated record of 4-0. Her early dominance showcased her potential and laid the foundation for a seamless transition to professional fighting.

On July 13, 2019, she made her professional debut at WFC 109, defeating Brigid Chase via second-round rear-naked choke. This victory launched a series of impressive performances. She defeated Kylie O’Hearn via unanimous decision at Cage Titans: Combat Night 2 on September 7, 2019, followed by a technical knockout against Christina Ricker at BTC 8: Eliminator on November 30, 2019.

Her momentum continued into 2020, with a first-round TKO win over Gabriella Gulfin at CFFC 81 on February 1. Although she narrowly lost a split decision to Elise Reed for the CFFC strawweight title at CFFC 83 on October 18, her resolve only grew stronger. On March 12, 2021, she defeated Ashley Deen via unanimous decision at CFFC 93, solidifying her reputation as a top contender.

Jasudavicius earned her UFC contract on September 14, 2021, with a unanimous decision victory over Julia Polastari on Dana White’s Contender Series 39. She debuted in the UFC on January 22, 2022, at UFC 270, defeating Kay Hansen by unanimous decision. Her next bout against Natália Silva on June 18, 2022, at UFC on ESPN 37 ended in a loss via unanimous decision, but she rebounded strongly.

On February 25, 2023, she defeated Gabriella Fernandes via unanimous decision after Cortney Casey withdrew. Jasudavicius secured another unanimous decision victory against Miranda Maverick on June 10, 2023, at UFC 289, although a loss to Tracy Cortez followed on September 16, 2023, at UFC Fight Night 227.

Her career-defining moment came on January 20 at UFC 297, where she defeated Priscila Cachoeira via third-round anaconda choke submission. This fight set a UFC record for the largest strike differential in a women’s bout, with a staggering 326-26 total strikes, earning her the Performance of the Night award.

On July 13, Jasudavicius faced Fatima Kline at UFC on ESPN 59 after Viviane Araújo withdrew. She secured a unanimous decision victory, showcasing her adaptability in unpredictable circumstances. On November 2, she earned another Performance of the Night award by defeating Ariane Lipski da Silva via third-round brabo choke submission at UFC Fight Night 246.

Jasudavicius’ technical prowess and submission skills continue to elevate her reputation in the sport. Her next challenge comes on February 1 at UFC Fight Night 250, where she will face Mayra Bueno Silva in a highly anticipated matchup that promises to test her against a formidable opponent.

Jasmine Jasudavicius’ career is a testament to resilience, versatility, and determination. As she prepares for her next bout, she remains a source of inspiration for MMA enthusiasts and a proud representative of Canada on the UFC stage.
