Telugu Titans Edge UP Yoddhas as Bengaluru Bulls Secure Hard-Fought Win in Chennai Doubleheader

Fans at the SDAT Multi Purpose Indoor Stadium in Chennai were treated to a gripping night of Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) action on Sunday, as the Telugu Titans and Bengaluru Bulls registered crucial victories in tightly contested encounters.

In the opening match, the Telugu Titans held their nerve to record a 40-35 win over the UP Yoddhas, extending their winning streak to four games. The Titans’ success was built on a blend of attacking brilliance and defensive resilience, led by Bharat Hooda’s Super 10 and Shubham Shinde’s High Five. Bharat, who has been in scintillating form this season, notched up his 100th raid point of PKL Season 12, while also crossing the 700 career points milestone.

Captain Vijay Malik provided solid support with nine points, reaching his own century of raid points for the season, while Praful Zaware chipped in with a decisive four-point cameo that proved vital in the closing stages. The Titans’ balanced performance saw them fend off a spirited UP Yoddhas fightback, led by Bhavani Rajput’s career-best Super 10. Rajput was outstanding with 16 points, while Guman Singh contributed eight, but their combined efforts fell just short.

The victory strengthened the Titans’ grip on the third position in the standings, while the Yoddhas slipped to ninth, left searching for consistency as the season enters its middle phase.

In the second match of the night, the Bengaluru Bulls battled to a 33-29 win against the Tamil Thalaivas in another intense showdown. Iranian star Alireza Mirzaian delivered yet another Super 10, showcasing his agility and timing in raids, while Sanjay Dhull anchored the defense with a High Five. The contest remained finely balanced for much of the game before the Bulls pulled ahead in the dying minutes to seal victory.

It was also a night of personal achievement for Arjun, who joined the elite list of players with 1,300 PKL points, marking a significant milestone in his storied career.

With this win, the Bengaluru Bulls climbed to fifth position in the table, bolstering their playoff hopes, while the Tamil Thalaivas slipped to eighth, left to rue missed opportunities in crunch moments.

Sunday’s doubleheader not only reshaped the standings but also highlighted the growing competition across the league, as every point continues to matter in the race for playoff spots.
