Kolkata Thunderbolts defeated Ahmedabad Defenders in the final of the Prime Volleyball League at the Gachibowli Indoor Stadium, Hyderabad on Sunday.
Kolkata won in straight sets by 15-13, 15-10, 15-12 to be crowned as the inaugural champions of PVL 2022.
Kolkata Thunderbolts’ star player Vinit Kumar was delighted with the performance of his team in the final and said that they were able to reap fruits for playing according to their plans.
Vinit was also awarded the Most Valuable Player of the season for his consistent performances.
Vinit said after the game, “I am really happy, we played according to the strategy which we had planned. We worked on our game and that’s why we won 3-0”.
In fact, Kolkata Thunderbolts had lost against Ahmedabad Defenders by 3-2 in the league stage. When asked about what the team changed for the final, Vinit said, “We changed our service strategy and we tried to rectify our mistakes from that game. We worked on the same and that’s why we won”.
Vinit further said, “This win will not only motivate players from Kolkata but also all the Volleyball players in India. We are grateful for Prime Volleyball League for giving us the opportunity”.
He also gave his gratitude to his teammates, coaches, and the support staff after bagging the Gold medal. Vinit also gave his gratitude to all the fans who supported Kolkata Thunderbolts throughout the season.
Kolkata Thunderbolts were able to come up with a collective effort and this is a beginning of a new dawn in India Volleyball. Hopefully, these players will get more opportunities to showcase their skills at the top level.
