Carlos Alcaraz admitted that he and Jannik Sinner push each other to the limit on the tour after the US Open triumph. Out of the four Grand Slams of the 2025 season, Alcaraz and Sinner met each other in the finals on three occasions. While Alcaraz won two Majors, Sinner bagged the same number of Slams this season.
Moreover, it was a similar story in the previous season, with Alcaraz and Sinner winning two Majors apiece. Alcaraz has dominated the rivalry so far with a 10-5 win-loss record against Sinner and recently won the US Open title for the second time in his career by convincingly beating the Italian in a four-set contest. With this win, Alcaraz also took back the numero uno position in the PIF rankings from Sinner.
“For me it’s great,” said Alcaraz on NBC Today show. “I think we push each other to the limit every time. My practices are just focused to see how I can be better just to beat Jannik. So I think the rivalry, it is special, splitting Grand Slams, fighting for the great things.”
Sinner and Alcaraz are known to push each other on the court and there is no doubt that it pushes them to improve their game in the training sessions.
Earlier in the season, Alcaraz defeated Sinner in a thrilling Roland Garros final after saving match points on his serve. The epic French Open’s summit clash lasted five sets and broke multiple records.
Sinner was then able to avenge his loss by beating Alcaraz in the Wimbledon final in a four-set contest.
Both Sinner and Alcaraz will now look to end their season on a high and continue their rich form.
