World No.3 Carlos Alcaraz has shed light on his rivalry with Jannik Sinner. Alcaraz recently returned to the tour at the US Open after spending almost five months on the sidelines due to a wrist injury. However, Sinner, on the other hand, missed the New York Major due to a knee injury.
Ergo, the two best players on the planet haven’t played against each other in the last few months, something which the fans have dearly missed. The two are expected to once again resume their epic rivalry in the next season and Alcaraz said fans and experts will be eagerly waiting for the same.
Alcaraz told BBC Sport, “He’s been winning everything, you know, mostly at the beginning of the year.
The Spaniard said Sinner makes him push the limits and thrive to become a better player.
“And yeah, of course, I mean, I miss him, you know. I miss him, seeing him around, playing against him. He just pushes me to be a better player.
“So I would say, you know, this break of all matches, of all rivalry, it’s gonna be better. Hopefully this year, you know, the people are gonna be waiting for those matches. So I think it’s gonna be better.”
Alcaraz and Sinner have played against each other on 17 occasions, with the former having a 10-7 advantage against the Italian.
Alcaraz is currently taking part at the Laver Cup in London, where he is representing Team Europe.
Sinner is currently recuperating from a knee injury and he is preparing to get back on the court once again.
Alcaraz has won seven Slams in his young career whereas Sinner has won five.
