Casper Ruud sheds light on hectic ATP schedule, says Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner have winning advantage

Casper Ruud said the ATP schedule is brutal, as there is hardly any break between the tournaments. The Norwegian had taken a break during the summer, which helped him recharge his batteries. Ruud, the French Open and the US Open finalist, won the 14th title of his career on Sunday.

The 26-year-old defeated Ugo Humbert by 6-2, 6-3 in the final to go all the way in the tournament. Meanwhile, Ruud feels it is not easy to come back after losses and reckons Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner have the advantage as they win most of their matches on the tour.

Both Alcaraz and Sinner have played more than 70 matches on the tour in the ongoing season and have a great winning record.

“The schedule is very long, it’s incredibly complicated to go from one tournament to the next with hardly any time to process what’s happened. We’re pushing our bodies and minds to the limit. I think, in my case, taking a break in the summer was key. That’s what’s allowing me to arrive in good condition now,” Casper Ruud said (translated from source provided by Punto de Break).

“Carlos and Jannik may have played more than 70 games this year, but I think it’s harder for the others because we don’t win as many as they do, and bouncing back from defeats every week is a challenge,” he added.

The Norwegian added that Alcaraz and Sinner are almost unplayable on the tour as the duo is playing at another level.

“Right now, we have two players on tour who are completely unplayable, but then there are about 30 of us struggling to improve and take advantage of opportunities. We have to accept that they’re in a different sphere, forget about them, and simply try to evolve to make them look human,” Casper Ruud said.

Ruud will begin his Swiss Indoors campaign against Quentin Halys on Wednesday.
