Jannik Sinner continues dominant Wimbledon run, reaches R3 after beating Aleksandar Vukic

World No.1 Jannik Sinner continued to impress on grass as he registered a comprehensive 6-1, 6-1, 6-3 win in just one hour and 40 minutes against Aleksandar Vukic at Centre Court to move into round three of Wimbledon on Thursday.

The Italian saved all four break points he faced during the match and brought his A-game to the court. The 23-year-old ticked the right boxes and came up with a complete performance against the Australian.

Sinner admitted it could have been a different story if he had not saved his break points.

“I enjoyed it because I won the game,” Sinner said with a smile when asked about the final game. “The match can change very quickly. If he breaks me there, it could go a long distance, so I’m very happy to finish. [Playing on] Centre Court is such a special occasion.”

Sinner will next face Spain’s Pedro Martinez in the third round of the championship, and he admitted it is going to be a challenging contest.

“Every opponent is very difficult, third-round matches in Grand Slams are something special,” said Sinner. “As we saw, there have been many upsets this tournament, so we try to stay focused and raise our level. I felt the level was at a good point today, but I can improve a couple of things.”

Sinner has a 1-0 record against Martinez, and he would want to bring his best to the court on Saturday.

On the other hand, Jack Draper suffered a 4-6, 3-6, 6-1, 4-6 defeat against Marin Cilic, and the Brit admitted that his game on grass this season has been off the track.

“I’ve been really disappointed with the way my game’s been on the grass this year, in all honesty,” Draper said. “I wasn’t feeling too great at Queen’s. I don’t know how I made the semis there and gave myself a chance of making the final.
