World No.2 Jannik Sinner has revealed he is trying to be more aggressive from the baseline in his practice sessions ahead of the Indian Wells. Sinner hasn’t had a great start to the season as he suffered a semifinal loss against Novak Djokovic in the Australian Open and thus could not defend his title.
Subsequently, Sinner suffered a quarterfinal loss against Jakub Mensik in the Qatar Open. The Italian said he has been trying to work on certain aspects of his game and he is looking to improve at the top level.
“I think we are always trying to progress with our games,” Sinner said during his pre-tournament press conference on Tuesday. “I feel like we are doing a great job. It has been a very hard practice week here for me. We spent many, many hours of practice.”
Sinner said he is feeling confident on the court and wants to be at his best at Indian Wells.
“[I am] very happy with how I’m feeling on the court, and obviously we try to go as far as possible in the tournament,” Sinner said. “In the same time, we also try to improve a couple of things. I’m trying to be slightly more aggressive at times on the baseline, and then we see how it goes.”
Sinner has also given fans a closer look at his life off court through his YouTube content.
“I feel like fans, they don’t know exactly how we are as a person, so this helps also to show how I am off the courts. I think it’s something great,” Sinner said.
Sinner also admitted that he himself watches YouTube videos of his favorite players.
“Personally, I also love to watch other YouTube videos from other sports people, and it’s of course something different,” Sinner said. “You have behind my team what makes it by itself. You know, I don’t have to worry about anything else.”
Sinner will begin his Indian Wells campaign against Dalibor Svrcina on Saturday.
