Novak Djokovic’s former coach Riccardo Piatti has given a warning to Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner after the Australian Open. Djokovic recently made it to the final of the Happy Slam but could not cross the last hurdle against Carlos Alcaraz.
The Serbian had a golden opportunity to win his record-breaking 25th Slam as he received a walkover in the fourth over whereas Lorenzo Musetti retired hurt after winning the first two sets against him in the quarterfinal clash.
Djokovic then won an epic semifinal against Jannik Sinner in a five-setter and he was in a good space physically ahead of the summit clash. However, Djokovic could not carry his form after winning the opening set against Alcaraz on Sunday.
Riccardo Piatti reckons Roland Garros could be a bit complicated for Novak Djokovic but the talisman has a good chance of winning at SW19.
“If he [Djokovic] continues [to play], it is because he believes that he can always evolve more,” Piatti said on French outlet L’Equipe.
“Roland Garros will necessarily be more complicated for him, but we must not forget it if an opportunity presents itself at Wimbledon.
“What I know is that at the end of this Australian Open, Novak is back, he is the most obsessed with his tennis.
“I just hope he stays healthy and can prepare as well as possible. Then he might have another chance. Jannik and Carlos would do well to be careful.”
Djokovic would look to keep the good show in the rest of the season. The veteran has been a fighter throughout his career and he would look to deliver his best.
