Renowned Tennis coach Patrick Mouratoglou has showered praise on Jannik Sinner after the Italian had a magnificent run in 2025. Sinner won the Australian Open and Wimbledon and also won the Nitto ATP Finals.
The World No.2 took his rivalry against Carlos Alcaraz to a new level. The duo have also shared the last eight Slams between them.
Barring the Australian Open final, Alcaraz and Sinner met each other in the Roland Garros, Wimbledon, and US Open finals.
While Alcaraz won the Roland Garros and US Open against Sinner, the Italian won the Wimbledon and Nitto ATP Finals in Turin in 2025 against the Spaniard. Sinner had championship points in the French Open final but Alcaraz was able to bounce back strongly.
Mouratoglou noticed that Sinner has improved his game after suffering a loss in the US Open final.
Writing on Linkedin, Mouratoglou said: “When he was in difficulty on the first set point for Alcaraz, Sinner dared with his second serve and these are also a champion’s shot.
“This is the mentality of a valuable tennis player and Jannik realised he had to do this after the US Open. 2025 brought us a rivalry we all hoped for, six finals and two players that are bound to become legends.”
The French coach said 2026 will be another great year as the duo is expected to raise their game.
He added, “2026 will be incredible. Alcaraz has to up the level because Sinner is currently the world number one in the world in serve and return.
“He’s unique. Roger on serve, Rafa and Novak on return, but never both. This is something new in tennis.”
Alcaraz has a 10-6 Win-Loss record in head-to-head battle against Sinner.
