Rick Macci says Jannik Sinner does not need to change anything after loss to Carlos Alcaraz

Serena Williams’ former coach Rick Macci said Jannik Sinner doesn’t need to change anything after the US Open final loss against Carlos Alcaraz. After suffering a four-set loss, Sinner admitted he was predictable against Alcaraz and would want to make changes and evolve his game.

Sinner looked a bit clueless against Alcaraz and could not deliver in the New York Major final. The Italian said he would work on serve and volley but the renowned American coach said there is hardly any chink in Sinner’s armor.

“Sinner does not have to change anything,” wrote Macci on social media following the Italian’s setback in New York.

“He is so dominant and special off the ground and between the ears,” explained the experienced tennis coach.

However, Macci reckons both Alcaraz and Sinner will make a few changes to their respective games when they next meet on the tour.

“Both will modify, tweak, and fine tune and they both are on another planet and over the moon,” said Macci.

Meanwhile, Sinner said he would look to work on his drop shot and serve and volley when he next faces Alcaraz.

“We’re definitely gonna work on that,” explained Sinner at the 2025 US Open final press conference. “I’m trying to be more prepared for the next match when I will play against him.”

“I’m gonna aim to, maybe even lose some matches from now on, but trying to do some changes,” added the former World No. 1. “To be a bit more unpredictable as a player.”

Sinner has a solid game and he wants to add new weapons in his rich arsenal. The Italian would definitely work on areas he mentioned with coach Darren Cahill.
