Roger Federer breaks Andre Agassi’s 15-year old ranking record

The Swiss Tennis legend Roger Federer is one of the best players to have graced the game. Federer has always impressed with his flamboyant game and he has achieved almost everything in the book. Meanwhile, Federer has now achieved another ranking record as he broke Andre Agassi’s 15-year old record.

Federer entered the top 10 ATP rankings back in 2002 and since then he hasn’t looked back. The 39-year old is currently placed at the fifth place in the latest ATP Rankings with 6630 points under his belt.

Consequently, Federer has completed 19 years in the top 10 rankings, which has helped him leapfrog Andre Agassi’s elite record. The former American player entered the top 10 rankings back in 1988 and stayed in the top 10 till 2006. Thus, Agassi spent 18 years in the top 10 player’s list.

Jimmy Connors and Rafael Nadal share the third position in this list as both of them have spent 16 years in the top 10. Connors remained in top 10 from 1973 to 1989 whereas Nadal first entered the top 10 back in 2005. Nadal is currently in second place with 9850 points in his bag.

Meanwhile, the current World No.1 Novak Djokovic has spent a total of 14 years in the top 10 rankings. Djokovic made the cut into the top 10 back in 2007 and he currently enjoys a healthy lead over Nadal as he has 12030 points under his kitty.

On the other hand, Roger Federer has decided to pull out of the upcoming Australian Open whereas Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal will aim for their 18th and 21st slam title respectively in Australia.
