Former World No.1 Roger Federer has admitted that the things don’t come easy anymore for him after he lost against Canada’s 20-year-old F. Auger Aliassime by 6-4, 3-6, 6-2. In fact, Federer took the first set after converting the break point he got. However, the Swiss Maestro looked out of the contest in the next set.
In fact, Federer was not able to put up any kind of fight in the third set and these are worrying signs for the eight-time Wimbledon champion before the big event. Federer had looked a bit rusty in the Qatar Open and Geneva Open and he will need to pull up his socks in the next week to be ready for Wimbledon.
Federer is a 10-time champion at Halle and he has made it at least made it to the quarterfinal of the competition on every occasion since 2001. Federer doesn’t have the age on his side is already 39 and is a couple of months away from his 40th birthday. Furthermore, Federer’s game hasn’t been at the top after he has undergone two knee surgeries.
“Today I needed time to digest the third set, I was unhappy with how it ended, it was similar to the Geneva one. I took my time before coming into (the) press conference because I didn’t want to say wrong things played by emotions,” Roger Federer said.
“The rehab process was a huge challenge for me. Everybody who has had multiple surgeries knows what I’m talking about. Things don’t come easy anymore and that’s sometimes the major concern,” the champion said.
Federer is well known for his class and flamboyant Tennis but he has looked off-colour. However, the former World No.1 had played brilliantly in the first three rounds of the French Open before he decided to pull out.
