The LA Lakers have received a major boost as their talisman Anthony Davis is all set to return. Davis has confirmed that he feels 100% healthy and he plans to play the Thursday night game against the Dallas Mavericks. However, he will take the final call depending on how he feels after the Wednesday training.
Meanwhile, Anthony Davis has spent nine weeks away from the game and it won’t be easy for him to hit the ground running. Davis’ last played back in February against the Denver Nuggets and injured his leg while trying to make the drive against Nikola Jokic. However, Davis revealed that it wasn’t an Achilles injury, which most of his fans thought.
“I never tore an Achilles, but I kind of felt like sharp pain, like it was ripping, which I had never felt before,” Davis said. “… So I knew it was something serious. It wasn’t as serious as it could have been, but it was still a pretty significant injury.”
The MRI scans had later confirmed that Davis had suffered a calf strain. Meanwhile, the team’s head coach Frank Vogel confirmed that Davis will play against the Dallas Mavericks but his game time will be limited to 15 minutes. Vogel feels Davis will take some time to get off the blocks.
“If you’re out for this long, it usually takes a couple of weeks, to be honest, to really feel like you have your legs under you and you’re in rhythm and your rhythm and timing is back, as well as working with new teammates,” Vogel said. “So it’s going to take some time.”
On the other hand, Lakers talisman LeBron James is also on the sidelines due to ankle injury. Vogel revealed that James will take another couple of weeks before he can join the line-up.
Meanwhile, Davis will look to bring his best to the table for the Lakers. The team is currently in fifth place in the Western Conference and has a 35-23 record.
