Dallas Mavericks talisman Luka Doncic is one of the rising players of the NBA. The Slovenian showed his class in the NBA 2018-19 season as he was awarded the Rookie of the year award. The 21-year old had a successful previous season as he delivered the goods for his team.
Meanwhile, the LA Lakers legend LeBron James is all impressed by the skills of Luka Doncic. In fact, James also wanted to get Luka Doncic for a shoe line that he wanted to start a few years ago. James revealed that he wanted Doncic as his first signing with Nike.
James added that even the youngster was not aware that he wanted to get Doncic on board. But Nike was not ready for Doncic and he ended up joining Michael Jordan.
LeBron stated, “I wanted to begin ‘Team LeBron’ and have Luka (Doncic) as my first signing with Nike… I don’t believe that my guys at Nike were ready for that. Obviously, they were not, because he ended up going to [Michael] Jordan. I don’t know if Luka knows this.”
On the other hand, Luka Doncic stated that he felt special and he cannot express the same in words when he came to know about James’ offer.
He said, “I felt special. It’s something you feel special about. Obviously, I didn’t know it before. Somebody sent it to me. That’s how I got to know it. It’s something special. Something I can’t explain.”
Meanwhile, Luka Doncic had a successful season for Dallas Mavericks as he delivered the goods for the team and also broke a lot of records. Doncic averaged 28.8 points, 9.4 rebounds, and 8.8 assists last season as he played at the top of his game.
Doncic will look to replicate his previous success and take the Dallas Mavericks to new heights in the NBA 2020:21 season.
