Veteran LeBron James said he has no idea if he will ever team up with Steph Curry. James and Curry, two of the best players of the current era, played together for Team USA in the Paris Olympics and the talismanic duo helped the country clinch their 17th gold at the Games.
James averaged 14.2 points, 6.8 rebounds and 8.5 assists on 66% shooting in the Olympics and thus played an instrumental role in taking his team to glory. The veteran was named Olympic MVP after scoring 14 points with six rebounds and 10 assists in the summit clash.
On the other hand, Steph Curry, who scored 36 points against Serbia in the semifinal, added 24 points in the final against France, including eight three-pointers. The Golden State Warriors star averaged 14.8 points, 3.2 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 0.7 steals per game at the Games.
“I have no idea,” James said Monday.
The Lakers and Golden State Warriors will take on each other in the preseason on Tuesday.
“It was everything and more,” James said as quoted by ESPN. “I was super excited to be able to finally team up with him in a win-or-die type atmosphere. That’s what it was, being a part of the Olympics. It was everything that I dreamed of and aspired to want to be a part of that team, along with Steph. Great memories. Something that I’ll remember from my basketball career for the rest of my life, for sure.”
James showered praise on Steph Curry for playing a key role in the Warriors’ success.
“I understand what Steph has done for this game,” James said. “I understand what he’s done for his organization, what he’s done for the community, people all over the world. Just by his approach to the game and how he is as a man. How he is as a family man. How he is as a husband, a dad, a son, all that stuff.
“So when you have that type of respect for somebody and then you get to be around them every day and you see the way they work and how they treat their craft, it’s a pretty cool thing. You’re able to just respect that and not take it for granted.”
