Boston Celtics star Jayson Tatum put on a splendid show against the Toronto Raptors and took his team to a 126-114 win. In fact, the Celtics were plagued by a plethora of injuries however Tatum was able to come up with a complete performance for his team.
Tatum is only 22 years old and he has shown the promise to go a long way in his career. The youngster scored 40 points against the Raptors and it was the third 40-point game for the talented player. Thus, he has written his name in the franchise record books as he has become the first Celtics player to have three 40-point games before turning 23.
Celtics is one of the most successful franchises in NBA history and legendary players like Larry Bird and Paul Pierce have represented them in the past. However, no player has achieved this unique record.
Furthermore, Tatum grabbed six rebounds and two assists as he came up with an all-rounder performance. In fact, Tatum missed his career high score by a solitary point.
The Celtics won their fifth match of the season out of the eight matches they have played and they will look to continue the good show. Tatum is one of the crucial players for the club along with Jaylen Brown, who has also looked in top form in the ongoing season.
Meanwhile, the Celtics have won 17 NBA titles and they are tied with their arch-rivals LA Lakers for the most NBA rings. However, Boston haven’t been able to savour success in the last decade as they won their last championship back in 2008.
The Celtics will look to keep the impetus on their side in this season. They will next lock horns with Miami Heat on 7th of January.
