The LA Lakers had a disappointing start to their playoff series against the Phoenix Suns as they lost the opening game by 99-90. Anthony Davis wasn’t at his best in the first game and even blamed himself for the loss.
It is well known that the Lakers heavily depend on the shoulders of Davis and LeBron James for their success. Both of the players had to miss a lot of matches due to their respective injuries but they have made a fine comeback.
Davis has scored 34 points each in the last two matches and has played a key role in the success of the team. On the other hand, LeBron James’ leadership has been right on the money as he has got the best out of the players in the last two games.
In fact, James didn’t have a great first half in the third match of the series but added he recollected himself in the locker room. James then scored 10 points in the third quarter.
“I wasn’t reading the game like I would like to in the first half,” said James. “Came back into the locker room, made some mental adjustments for me individually that I felt would work for our team, and we were able to spark a run in the third.”
Meanwhile, team’s head coach Frank Vogel believes LeBron James changed the whole game.
“He changed the whole game,” Vogel said after L.A. won for the eighth time in its last nine games. “His mindset just reversed the whole course of tonight’s game.”
James admitted that it has been a rough year for him because of an ankle sprain.
“Obviously it’s been a rough year on me as far as physically with my ankle and dealing with that and still trying to get it where it was before the injury,” James said. “But every day is a step forward and I’m going to continue to put the work into my treatment around the clock, getting it to where it was before the injury.”
The fourth match of the series will take place on Sunday.
