The series between the LA Lakers and the Phoenix Suns was tied 1-1 after the first two matches. Suns had drawn first blood as they won the opening game by 99-90 but the Lakers bounced back in style to win the second match by 109-102.
Thus, the third match was a must-win for both teams to take a lead in the series. The Lakers were able to continue their winning momentum as they won by 109-95 on Thursday night.
Meanwhile, Anthony Davis had a disappointing opening game in the postseason and even took the blame of the loss on his shoulders. However, the 28-year old made a resounding comeback in the second match as he scored 34 points and also registered 10 rebounds and seven assists.
Davis continued his sublime form in the third game of the series as he once again scored 34 points and also scored 11 rebounds. Thus, he has joined big LA Lakers players like Kobe Bryant, Kareem Abdul Jabbar, Elgin Baylor, and Shaquille O’Neal in an incredible playoff record.
Davis has now become the fifth LA Lakers player to record 30+ points and 10 rebounds in consecutive playoff games. Thus, the talisman will look to continue his good form in the coming matches for the defending champions.
On the other hand, Davis received support from LeBron James and Dennis Schroder. James scored 21 points and nine assists whereas Schroder contributed with 20 points.
Meanwhile, Deandre Ayton scored 22 points for the Suns whereas Devin Booker scored 19 points but their efforts went in vain.
The fourth match of the series between the two teams will take place on Sunday.
