The LA Lakers have won their last five matches but they have been forced to play two straight overtime matches. The Lakers defeated the Detroit Pistons by 135-129 OT on Sunday and they once again had to play the OT against the Oklahoma City Thunder on Tuesday.
They were able to come out on top in the end by 119-112 OT but their talisman LeBron James isn’t much impressed. The Lakers have struggled to hit the ground running in the last two matches and they allowed Oklahoma City Thunder to score 33 points in the first quarter.
Thus, there is no doubt that they will need to pull up the socks in the upcoming matches. The Lakers were without the services of their talisman Anthony Davis and they clearly missed him.
James was once again brilliant as he top-scored with 28 points. The 36-year old also top-scored with 14 rebounds and provided 12 assists. Hence, he registered another triple-double as he continued his sublime form going.
James said, “Allowing ourselves to get down double-digits to start games is not something we want to do long-term.”
James also added he is fine playing one overtime and he doesn’t want to play two overtime matches.
“I’m good with one. I’m good with one overtime as opposed to two overtimes,” he said.
There is no doubt that the Lakers wouldn’t want to let their foot off the pedal and be complacent in their approach. They conceded 15 careless turnovers and they will need to buckle up.
The defending champions have won 19 matches whereas they have lost six games and they will look to be relentless in the coming matches. The Lakers will once again face the Oklahoma City Thunder on Thursday.
