In the last two seasons, there has been a tough battle for the MVP between LeBron James and Giannis Antetokounmpo. The Greek Freak was just able to surpass the King and he has bagged two consecutive MVPs. On the other hand, James had led the LA Lakers to their 17th NBA title as he had come up with a brilliant performance in the previous season.
Meanwhile, James was quick to pick Giannis Antetokounmpo in his team for the All-star game against Team Durant. Giannis was at his best for Team LeBron as he top-scored with 35 points and converted 16/16 field goals. Apart from Giannis, Damian Lillard and Steph Currey scored 32 and 28 points respectively for Team LeBron as they defeated Team Durant by 170-150.
After his impressive performance, Giannis bagged the Kobe Bryant NBA All-Star MVP trophy as well. Meanwhile, the 26-year old player, who plays for Milwaukee Bucks, was full of praise for LeBron James.
Giannis said while talking to USA Today Sports before the game, “For sure, I think he is one of the best players in the league. There’s no doubt like he’s a champion. As long as you are the champion, you are the best player in the league. I don’t care who’s the MVP, I don’t care who’s the leading scorer of the NBA. You know, if you are the champion and the best team, I think you are the best player in the world.”
However, James played for 13 minutes and could only manage four points. Meanwhile, James is once again doing a fine job for the LA Lakers this season as he is averaging 25.8 points per game. The 36-year old has carried the team on his shoulders in the absence of Anthony Davis, who has been ruled with an injury.
James has time and again proved why he is the best in the business in the NBA and has always consistently delivered the goods. The Lakers will face Indiana Pacers on Saturday.
