The LA Lakers are on a song in the ongoing season of the NBA. The Lakers cruised past the first round, semifinals and the Western conference Finals to make their way into the first NBA finals since 2010. In fact, the Lakers have not played more than five matches in any of the series in the postseason, which goes to show their domination.
This also means that their big players are fresh and hungry, as they have spent less time on the court. Lakers star LeBron James has been in sublime form and he was once again right on the money in the first game of the NBA finals against his former team, Miami Heat.
Lakers have taken a 1-0 advantage as they defeated Heat by 116-98 with Anthony Davis top scoring with 34 points. James registered 25 points and top scored with 13 rebounds and nine assists.
In fact, the Lakers took a healthy lead of 65-48 after the first half, which made it almost impossible for the Miami Heat to make a comeback into the contest.
James was at his best in the first half as he converted each of his four free throws to add another feather in his illustrious cap. The legend has now gone past Michael Jordan and George Mikan to become the fifth highest player with most free throws in NBA finals – 261.
In fact, Bron is currently the only player in the top five of most Free throws in the NBA finals. Bron will have his eye set on former Lakers legend Magic Johnson’s tally of 284 Free throws in the finals. Johnson is at third place in the table.
Meanwhile, former Lakers legend Shaquille O’Neal had attempted 39 Free Throws, which is the most for any player in an NBA finals series.
The second game of the series between the Lakers and Heat will take place on Saturday.
